Limited
Late Model Results:
For our last race of the season we
decided to try a different track in Auburndale, Florida. We heard that
they ran a true limited late model series and wanted to see how our car
would do against others made to the same specifications. We have
been running our limited late model against the full blown late models
at Sunshine Speedway, which put us at a big disadvantage in the
horsepower department. This race was a chance to test the compare
our equipment against the same class of cars.
We were started in the last position since he
had never run at this speedway before. This was the final points
night of their season and we were just testing our car, so starting last
ensured we wouldn't get in the way of those seeking points.
Everyone at the track was extremely friendly and welcomed us
genuinely. The points leader even offered to help us if we needed
any parts for the night.
During practices we were very fast and our set
up worked great. The overheating and brake problems of the past
seemed to have been corrected. We started the race in last place
as planned, but soon found we had the horsepower and set up to steadily
pass cars at the tail end of the pack. Before the 25 laps ended,
with only 1 caution, we had made it up to 9th place. If the race
had been longer, we truly feel we could have gotten a few more places as
well. It was a fun night and we discovered our limited late model
is very competitive in its own class. We're definitely ready for
next year and we're considering making Auburndale a regular spot on our
schedule. |
