EFI Closed Loop Adjustment Products
Nightrider
has developed a variety of products that make alterations to the closed loop
operational mode of the H-D ECM. We often get questions about the differences
in the products, if the product is compatible with their upgrades or which
product is “best” for their particular bike. These tables were created to
answer most of your questions.

Air Fuel Ratio
(AFR)
Air Fuel Ratio's (AFR) represented for the IED
products are based on
exhaust gas temperatures (EGT) of 1400-1500 F. Cooler EGT during startup,
cooler weather or during some dyno testing with cooling fans can result in
.5 to .8 leaner AFR's. This is normal due to the way unheated narrow band
O2 sensors react to changing EGT's. The "hotter" the engine
gets, the better the IED's actually work.

LC-1
AFR's are "actual" AFR's. The LC-1 is a heated O2 sensor which
allows accurate AFRs under all conditions.

LC-1 WBO2 is the Nightrider.com supplied Innovate Motorsports
LC-1 Wide Band O2 Sensor product with custom cables to adapt it to the H-D
wiring harness.
[2]
Emissions as tested on 07 FLHX in a certified emissions testing
laboratory at Idle. Stock bike versus stock bike with O2 IED. 49-state
standards are listed next to tested item. Emissions’ testing shows
Hydrocarbons (HC) and Carbon Monoxide (CO). Nitrous Oxide results are not
typically tested during state emissions inspections.
[3]
Benefits as reported to Nightrider.com, HDForums.com and other
online forum groups.
[4]
Temperature drops as typically reported by Riders by measuring
cylinder heads and exhaust shields. Testing by V-twin oriented magazines
reports similar 20 degree results. Temperature drop as measured by
thermocouple connected to the exhaust header at the exhaust port are 40-80
degrees. Individual rider results may vary.
[5]
MPG change computed based on additional fuel supplied to engine
under ideal circumstances. Individual rider results may vary.
[6]
As measured on an 07 FLHX by professional riders working for a
certified emissions testing laboratory.
[7]
Compatibility with 2007>later Harley-Davidson motorcycles has
been well established. We can not recommend the use of O2 IED or XiED on
2006 H-D Dyna models. The DYN OiED is specifically for the 2006 Dyna Model
bikes.
[8]
Tested configurations and results by independent riders can be
found at HDForums.com IED thread.

[10]
Nightrider has supplied many O2 IED to bikes in the
Canada
,
UK
, Europe,
Australia
and other H-D export countries.

[13]
O2 IED is compatible with SERT, but recommends riders alter Bias
Tables to 762 instead.
[14]
Advanced Tuning Techniques is possible using custom configured
LC-1 programming. Recommend use of Twin Scan II for data logging and data
analysis. With SERT, use custom configured Bias Tables. With PCIII, use
Nightrider standard LC-1 configuration.
[15]
Tuning Guidelines for using the O2 IED with the Power Commander
are available.
[16]
Technical support at V&H reported that O2 IED and Fuel Pack
are compatible according to independent rider contacting company.
[17]
Tuning instruction for using the O2 IED with the TFI is
available.
[18]
V-Rod tested by certified emissions testing laboratory.
[19]
The 2009/2010 Touring model bikes are approved for use with the
FL-XIED, ViED-2 and AFXiED.
[20]
DYN OiED is specific to 2006 Dyna Models
[21]
ViED is a variable ratio IED for all model
bikes, allowing AFR’s from 14.5 to 13.6
[22]
Buell models using the H-D style 2-wire Narrow Band O2 sensor should be
compatible with ViED. The LC-1 WBO2 is compatible with all narrow band O2
sensors. Additional wiring may be required for LC-1 upgrade.
