The original
V-TWIN Café There was a time when you said superbike, Harley-Davidson is what came to mind. This bike is a tribute to those times and the cafe race bikes of the 50's and 60's. This bike is not just another pretty face in the crowd. No matter where the V-TWIN Café goes, it draws a crowd. No fancy covers, no "Live to Ride" chrome, this bike was designed to be very functional on the street and the drag strip. Drag racing, a quick dash down a winding country road, sitting down on Main Street in Daytona or just looking good are all shown in the V-Twin Cafe scrap book. |
The bike was featured in the April 1997 issue of Thunder Alley magazine under the banner Torque-Tweaked DYNA . When the article was written, this bike produced 81 HP out of an 80 CID engine with a CV carburetor. After changing the carburetor to a Mikuni HSR-42 and some time on the dyno, the engine is now producing 96 HP @ 5700 RPM and 96 ft. lbs. of torque @ 4800 RPM. This is enough power to take the bike through the 1/4 mile in 11.8 seconds at 114 MPH. The dyno sheet for the bike is just below. |
The V-Twin Cafe was in competition for the 1998 AMI Dyno Shootout during Bike Week in the 1201-1340 Harley-Davidson Class. Despite some improvements since made since 1997, The 1994 FXDL could still only pull out a third place, by less than 1 horsepower. At Bike Week 97 the 1994 FXDL was quite successful. While it did not win the AMI Dyno Shootout or win the RAT's Hole Bike Show, the bike placed third in class at the Board Walk Bike Show on Friday and posted a very respectable 94.8 HP at AMI's Dyno Shootout in the stock 80CID Harley-Davidson class. Not a bad outing for a daily driven 1994 FXDL at Daytona Bike Week. News Flash! For the second year in a row, the V-Twin Cafe won the Dyno Shoot Out at the Harley-Davidson of Tampa anniversary celebration. Even the large stroker engines have not been able to beat this bike. The results: Additional pictures and drag racing performance are all shown in the V-Twin Cafe scrap book. |
