Performance and Technical information on Stage 1 engines for Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Basic Stage One Engine

The Stage One engine represents a minimum investment of money and time for improving the performance of a 80 CID Harley-Davidson. Most people can perform these simple modifications themselves. Modifications over stock engine are underlined in the specification list below. The estimated cost for these modifications is under $200. The improvements in performance for performing these minor changes is quite good for the dollars spent. Increases up to 18 HP and 17 Ft.Lbs of torque can be seen in some engines.
This modifications performed on an Low Rider was able to produce 13.8 second quarter mile times with a top speed of 93 MPH at the drag strip. These performance results should be a typical quarter mile result for 600 pound bikes (FXR, FXST, FXD) with an 80 CID Evolution motor.
