Basic Stage One Engine
The Stage One engine represents a minimum investment
of money and time for improving the performance of a 80 CID Harley-Davidson. Most people
can perform these simple modifications themselves. Modifications over stock engine are
underlined in the specification list below. The estimated cost for these modifications is
under $200. The improvements in performance for performing these minor changes is quite
good for the dollars spent. Increases up to 18 HP and 17 Ft.Lbs of torque can be seen in
some engines.
This modifications performed on an Low Rider was able to produce 13.8 second quarter mile
times with a top speed of 93 MPH at the drag strip. These performance results should be a
typical quarter mile result for 600 pound bikes (FXR, FXST, FXD) with an 80 CID Evolution
motor.
